" AUSTRALIAN TERMITES $780 MILLION SMORGASBOARD "

"Termites cause an estimated $780 million damage to houses in Australia annually. There is usually a time period of 5 years from the time termites enter a house to the time of their detection and eradication." Naturally the damage caused during the period would be considerable.

Statistics supplied by "Architecture" an arm of the royal aust institute of architects.

A Pest Controller when inspecting may spray many litres of chemicals around your home whether termites are detected or not. These termites are detected or not. These termites sprayathons are usually carried out yearly which is, in some high risk termite areas, not regular enough. The cost of such inspections range from $200 to $500.

Even after an annual Pest Controller inspection, termites can still sneak in undetected and eat up a lot of your prized possessions. That's why termidtecta system works so well.

YOU ARE IN CHARGE

For a once only cost, it allows you, the home owner the opportunity to carry out your own regular inspections, weekly if you like, and it won't cost you a cent.

It puts you in charge and when you consider that 1 in 3 homes will be effected by termites, that can only be a good thing.

There is no one single termite detection or prevention system that is 100% effective. However the more methods of protection you have in place the better the chances of finding them early before major damage is done.

Termidtecta devices could be said to be the last line of defence.

The Termidtecta system has been designed, developed and made in Australia and the components assembled by the Endeavor Foundation, supporting people with intellectual disabilities.

HOW TERMIDTECTA WORKS

When termites secretly enter your home they will forage around, out of sight in the wall cavities looking for the tasty types of timber to eat. They are very particular, and usually attack architraves and skirting boards, around windows and doors, first. Their next favourite timber on the menu is unfortunately the frame work of your house and that's when it really gets serious.

With advice from the Forestry Research Institute we have discovered a Tasmanian grown eucalypt timber, with some very special features.

It's a timber termites will attack first, in preference to other timber used in your house construction. ...we call it "Termite Caviar".

YOU ARE IN CHARGE

We have devised a way of using one of the termites favourite food, against them. Using our patented system, especially serrated dowels, or monitors of this timber are inserted into your wall cavities (see below) so they can be easily removed by you and inspected within seconds.

We recommend quarterly inspections. If the dowels, or monitors as we call them have been eaten or disturbed you can take early action by calling in a Pest Controller before they start devouring your house.

SO EASY TO FIT

The wall collars (see below circled) are fixed into small holes drilled into the plaster wall linings and the timber monitors drop through the collars and rest onto the bottom of the house frame (see below left) which is a major pathway for termite entry.

IT'S LIKE A TYPE OF INSURANCE

This network of monitors completely surround the entire house. (see below). They are also concentrated in potential wet areas where termites like to sub nest. This mine field of monitors will make it extremely difficult for termites to slip through or sub nest undetected.

Termites enter your home secretly, emerging from underground, gaining entry through minute cracks of the wall cavities in your home. They swarm around darkened areas of the wall framing, searching for timber to devour. Being out of sight, their presence has been extremely difficult to detect by the home owner.... and even to skilled Pest Control Operators.

Why wait until after termites have destroyed your life? - Termi Detector is constantly on duty....24 hours a day. With termi detector, you can carry out your own termite inspections. HOW TO INSTALL TERMI DETECTOR YOURSELF - QUICKLY AND EASILY

Two Step Installation - Naturally termi detector monitor system comes with easy step by step instructions, all you need is a drill, and a screwdriver.

Step 1: Drill a small 20mm (3/4) hole into the plaster wall, just above the skirting board, and slide the termi detector wall collar into the hole.

Step 2: Next, simply feed the timber monitors through the holes in the collars and the connector cord allows the monitor to rest onto the bottom of the houseframe (known as the bottom plate) It's that easy

House Placement - Here's how termi detector monitors can be placed to completely surround your entire house, which is all linked together by the bottom plate (which connects the wall frame of the house to the concrete or timber floor). The bottom plate is a major pathway for termites entering your house. We also concentrate the detectors heavily in damp areas, like bathrooms, ensuites, and laundries, places where termites like to sub - nest. This minefield of detectors makes it very difficult for termites to slip through without detection.

Types of Homes - Install Termi Detector monitors in newly constructed or established homes and even extensions, such as brick vineer, timber weather board, fibrous cement (fibro), timber paneling, Hardie - plank or any structure which has a timber or steel internal frame. The monitors are not designed for solid concrete, double brick or concrete block work or wall framing containing batt-type insulation.

WHAT PEOPLE ASK MOST ABOUT TERMI DETECTOR

Q. After termi detector monitors are installed, will termites be attracted into the house?

A.No , Termites are not attracted by any timber inside your house at all, instead, termites (being blind) forage around the framework of a house....and devour the tastiest timber that's available, first.

Q. Do you have replacements for the timber dowels, should one be eaten?

A. Yes certainly, but more importantly, if a dowel has been eaten, this is a clear case of termi detector showing you the first stages of termite activity - so call a Pest Controller immediately.

Q. Shouldn't we try to stop termites before they get to the house?

A. Yes naturally, and while there are many termite barrier systems, (some are quite good) not one of them will tell you if termites have actually managed to get these barriers's and into your house. On the other hand, termi detector will.

Q. If I place bait tubes around the garden, will that help?

A. Every line of defence helps. Bait tubes aim to detect termites in your garden. If detected, termites can be eradicated. But consider this, bait tubes usually consist of 20cm long timber stakes placed in plastic tubes and set about 3-4 metres apart, into garden areas. So termites can easily tunnel between or below these bait tubes... to gain entry into your house, undetected. Once again, bait tubes won't reveal if termites are in your house - which is where they pose the worst risk.

Q. How often do i need to inspect my termi detector monitors?

A. Naturally, the more often you inspect, the less chance that termite infestation will go undetected. So, while Pest Controllers often recommend one standard termite inspection every year, we can offer even more peace of mind. In fact, it only takes around 10 minutes to inspect the termi detector in an average size home. Therefore, in normal situations, we recommend inspections every three months. An inspection which costs you nothing, but could save your home.

Q. How do termites find termi detector monitors?

A. Termites will forage outside a house for months, or even years, to find a concealed access into a home. They can gain entry without anyone knowing. Once inside the dark wall cavity of your house, then can spread everywhere, searching for certain species of timber to eat. "That's why we designed Termi Detector monitors to be in their faces at every turn. Termi Detector monitors are made of a timber that termites prefer to every other species of timber generally used in your house construction.

Q. Do Termi Detector monitors kill. or eradicate termites?

A. No, instead your termi detector system monitors for termite presence within your home.

WHAT GOT US THINKING

We decided that small timber monitors made from this unique timber might act as a lure to termites that are in a house and in doing so, signal termite presence to home owners. That would enable a home owner to take quick steps to eradicate the termites. Much better than the common scenario where shockingly expensive repairs are the only remaining option!

RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT

We brought in Mr. Chris Langley, a consulting entomologist, with assistance through the CSIRO and The Forestry Research Institute to learn more about this particular Tasmanian Eucalypt. Research confirmed that this Tasmania Eucalypt species was indeed a subterranean termite favourite; and preferred to all other timbers generally used in house construction.

We then created specially ribbed dowels of this timber which are inserted into the wall cavities. Conveniently, our system allows these timber dowels to be easily removed by you and inspected within seconds. (If the dowels, or monitors as we call them have been eaten or disturbed you can take early action by calling in a Pest Controller for treatment before they devour your house.)

Next we consulted the termite entomologist to pin-point where, in the wall cavity, and how many monitors should be placed for maximum protection.

Plastic wall collars and plugs were then designed to position the timber monitors into the inside of the wall cavities allowing the monitors to drop through small holes drilled through the plaster wall lining of the house and rest on the bottom of the house frame. Fairly simple, but highly effective. (and heavily patented, by the way!)

SUPERB PEACE OF MIND

Ingeniously, this network of monitors completely surrounds the entire house. Monitors are also concentrated in wet areas where termites like to subnest. Such a minefield of monitors makes it extremely difficult for termites to slip through undetected.

MONITORING - THE ONLY EFFORT REQUIRED

You need to inspect Termidtecta monitors on a regular basis. Fortunately, this is so simple that it takes just 10 minutes to inspect in an average home. We recommend once every three months. Best of all, each inspection by you, costs you nothing! (of course if you detect a termite presence, you should call in a Pest Control Operator immediately, before termites have a chance to establish themselves in your home).
